We specialise in the media industry, but also provide captions for conferences and educational material. Take 1’s closed captions are distributed to a wide audience and seen on many different platforms, from streamed videos on YouTube, to content broadcast on your TV.

Our closed captioning jobs include a variety of different captioning services, such as origination, edit, conform and QC and, because the final platform could be web, film or TV, we create a variety of different file types (for example SRT, SCC, VTT, CAP etc.).

Recent TV caption projects include ‘Come Dine With Me’, ‘Extreme Cake Makers’, ‘The Catch’ and ‘Celebs Go Dating’.

But you don't have to be an expert TV captioner just yet.

We’ve got freelance captioning jobs for beginners and projects for experiences professionals. Either way, our team will make sure you’re familiar with all the necessary requirements for each project and can provide feedback to help you gain the skills you need to get paid to caption videos. As long as you’ve got experience working for closed caption companies or have completed captioning jobs in the past, we’d love to hear from you.

To work with us, please ensure you have:

Closed captioning experience (preferably for US streaming/FCC/Ofcom.)
An excellent command of the English language.
Excellent grammar & spelling skills.
Good knowledge of current affairs.
The ability to hit tight deadlines.

You won’t need your own captioning software as freelance captioners working on Take 1 projects are provided with full access to Ooona Tools Captioning software. And we’ll ensure that you’re familiar with these tools during our onboarding process.
