“Detectorists” is a comedy series based on the antics of the members of the (fictional) Danebury Metal Detecting Club in Essex. The show was originally broadcast on BBC4 in 2014 and was awarded a BAFTA for Television Scripted Comedy in 2015. The gentle comedy was written and directed by Channel X’s Mackenzie Crook, who also stars alongside Toby Jones.
Take 1 worked with Channel X across all three series of “Detectorists” from 2014 to 2017, providing post-production scripts to support the series’ broadcast delivery. Channel X chose Take 1’s most detailed post-production script package for “Detectorists,” including time coded transcription of all dialogue (both voice over and synced,) logs of on-screen captions and credits, detailed shot descriptions and music cues.
Channel X has produced content for all the major UK broadcasters for over three decades. Originally established by Jonathan Ross and Alan Marke, the company specialises in scripted comedy and drama, comedy entertainment and documentary. “Detectorists” was produced for BBC4 by the company’s Manchester-based subsidiary, Channel X North, which develops regional content for all platforms.
